A Greek traditional recipe for a delicious tzatziki sauce.

Maybe one of the best side dishes for almost every meal!

You can spread it in your sandwich, put it into a yummy greek “souvlaki” or dip into it your crispy potatoes!

Recipe

Yield: 1 cup

Total Time: 10 min

Ingredients

1 cup Greek yogurt

1 clove garlic, crushed

1 small cucumber, grated

1 tsp olive oil, extra virgin

1/4 tsp salt (*optional)

1 tsp balsamic vinegar or fresh lemon juice

1 tbsp dill

Directions

  1. Salt the grated cucumber and let it for 5 minutes it in a strainer or on a towel to waste its moisture and squeeze it lightly.
  2. Mix all the ingredients together in a small bowl with a spoon.
  3. Rest for 5 minutes in the fridge, to let the flavors blend together. *optionally

Notes

  • Storage: Store the tzatziki sauce in the fridge for up to a week.
  • Variations:
    • Flavored it with more garlic,
    • add herbs such as mint, parsley, and thyme or/and
    • seasoning with more vinegar or lemon juice.
  • Served: Served with toasted bread and crispy oven potatoes.
